CSN Athletics Honors Mayor Goodman

College of Southern Nevada Honors Mayor Carolyn Goodman for Her Role in Expanding Sports Officials Education and Recruitment
Paving a Brighter Future
On May 3, 2024, CSN held a special event to honor Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman for her instrumental role in the S.C.O.R.E. (SNOA Coyote Officials Recruitment and Education) program, which has significantly addressed the shortage of qualified sports officials in Southern Nevada.
The S.C.O.R.E. program, a collaboration between CSN and the Southern Nevada Officials Association (SNOA), was launched in the fall of 2022 with the vision of Mayor Goodman.
Since its inception, the program has nearly doubled the number of registered officials in Southern Nevada, growing from 676 to an impressive 1,297.
To recognize Mayor Goodman's invaluable contributions, CSN Director of Athletics Yvonne Wade and CSN S.C.O.R.E. Program Director Dan Savage unveiled a new logo during the event, officially renaming the initiative the Carolyn Goodman SCORE Program. SNOA President Vince Kristosik and Commissioner of Officials Marc Ratner also presented Mayor Goodman with an acrylic memento as a token of appreciation for her vision and dedication to sports in the community.
The success of the Carolyn Goodman SCORE Program not only ensures that Southern Nevada's youth can continue to participate in sports but also creates valuable job opportunities for members of the community.
CSN Athletics and SNOA remain committed to continuing this important work and supporting the development of sports and recreation in our region.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Mayor Carolyn Goodman for her years of leadership and unwavering commitment to the youth and sports community in Southern Nevada.
Her vision has made a lasting impact on the availability and quality of sports officiating, benefiting athletes, teams, and the entire community.
As a valued member of the CSN Athletics family, we wanted to share this significant milestone with you. Your support plays a crucial role in enabling us to continue our mission of providing education and opportunities to students through our athletics programs and community partnerships.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication to CSN Athletics. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students and the Southern Nevada community.
Fueling the Coyotes
The Coyotes Make History

The 2024 baseball season for the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes will be etched in the program's history as one of the most successful and memorable campaigns to date as the Coyotes reached the JUCO World Series for just the 4th time in program history. From their dominant regular season performance to their impressive postseason run, the Coyotes consistently demonstrated their skill, determination, and team unity under the guidance of head coach Nick Garritano.
Coach Garritano's exceptional leadership and strategic acumen were recognized with the prestigious Scenic West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award. This well-deserved honor highlights his ability to cultivate a winning culture, maximize the potential of his players, and navigate the challenges of a highly competitive conference.
The Coyotes' journey began with an outstanding regular season, where they secured the Scenic West Athletic Conference title with a remarkable 26-3 record. This achievement highlighted the team's offensive capabilities, led by sophomore catcher Tyman Long's 11 home runs and the team's collective .319 batting average.
Building on their regular season success, the Coyotes excelled in the postseason. They triumphed over #17 Salt Lake Community College in the Region 18 Tournament, earning the title and advancing to the Western District Tournament. There, they overcame the challenge posed by the #13 ranked Pima College Aztecs and South Mountain, ultimately securing their spot in the esteemed JUCO World Series.

The Coyotes' JUCO World Series campaign began with a thrilling extra-inning victory over #2 Northwest Florida, 7-6. Brady Ballinger led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and three RBIs.
In their second game, the Coyotes suffered a heartbreaking 9-8 loss to #8 Florence-Darlington despite the efforts of Jet Gilliam, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
Facing elimination, the Coyotes showcased their resilience in a dramatic comeback victory over #5 Crowder, 7-6. Tyman Long's clutch hitting, including a two-run homer in the fifth inning, propelled the team to victory.
However, the Coyotes' tournament run came to an end in a hard-fought 6-4 loss to Florence-Darlington, with Lucas Boesen delivering a strong performance on the mound despite being charged with the loss.
Throughout the JUCO World Series, the Coyotes demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level, finishing 5th in the tournament. Their success can be attributed to the exceptional performances of several key players, including Brady Ballinger, Tyman Long, and Lucas Boesen, who showcased their offensive prowess and pitching dominance.
The 2024 season serves as a benchmark for excellence in the College of Southern Nevada's baseball program. The Coyotes' achievements, both on and off the field, have set a new standard for future teams to aspire to. The dedication, skill, and passion exhibited by each player and coach involved in this historic season will undoubtedly inspire future generations of Coyotes to strive for greatness.
As we reflect on this remarkable season, the College of Southern Nevada commends Coach Garritano, his staff, and the 2024 Coyotes for their outstanding performance and the indelible mark they have left on the program's history. Their success is a testament to the strength of the institution's athletic department and the unwavering support of the Coyote community.
Looking ahead, with Coach Garritano at the helm, the College of Southern Nevada baseball program is well-positioned to build upon the achievements of the 2024 season. With a solid foundation of talent, a culture of excellence, and the backing of a dedicated fanbase, the future of Coyote baseball is undeniably bright.
